After many years I have written and published my first article on a thesis template in LaTeX, I verify that it still keeps on being visited and shared daily. So I decided to translate in English the original comments and notes and to improve and update it. Now it has the analytical index and the instructions to print it but above all you can edit, publish and share it on-line with Overleaf.
Recently thanks to a comment in my unofficial version of Europass CV, I have discovered the existence of the Digital Competence in the official and Giacomo Mazzamuto one. So I have firstly updated my CV and then the template hosted on GitHub and Overleaf. In the article there are a few notes about the new addition, the description of the digital competence and how to insert it in the LaTeX template.
It's time to upgrade my old LaTeX version of the Europass CV with a new one that follows the 2013 release, fortunately it has been an easy task because there are many attempts on Internet. I choose the latest class available on CTAN and I have updated it inserting new font icons, the selector for languages and moving on the left the picture in the personal information area. The resulting document is easy to edit and improve directly on your browser if you have a subscription in an online editor like Overleaf, or you can download it.
Basically I was looking for reducing my curriculum vitae in one page only, that would have summarized all my education, working experience and skills. The infographic is a beautiful method to do this but after a vain research on Internet I have updated the ModernCV template with a timeline and mindmap opportunely adapted to my case. The resulting document is easy to edit and improve directly on your browser if you have a subscription in an online editor like Overleaf, or you can download and edit by yourself.
A short post to describe my last LaTeX creation: a template file that allows to merge odd and even pages together, considering also the case of the reversed even pages. As usual there is a little edit area that make the process very fast, without requiring any knowledge of LaTeX and if you have a subscription in an online editor like Overleaf you can execute it in your internet browser.
Every time I have to break iteratively a series of pages in a PDF document or just to crop the white pieces, I need to use different software and to find manually the coordinates of the sections to cut and then adjust my old LaTeX template. It is an extenuating procedure that requires the use of external software and some compilations to fix the cuts. So I have written a new template to overcome these issues, thanks to TikZ and Overleaf or a local TeX editor with live update.
Sometimes it's necessary to add to your reports several drawings in order to facilitate the comprehension of the calculus and data. LaTeX can solve this issue without using any external software but only through the Graphics packages. I show you how TikZ-MEC, a custom library written by Francesco Clemente, can help in the description of mechanical problems related to (internally and externaly) loaded structures.
Do you want to keep a document with more languages and/or optional sections and maybe being able to turn on/off them whether necessary? The Comment package is the answer to these questions! I show you in WriteLaTeX how to set it with a practical template.
I would never have imagined that I could type a TeX file, view its real-time preview, download the resulting PDF, share it and much more in the Cloud... Yet using WriteLatex it is possible, also without a registration. That's amazing! Finally I can not only edit my templates on the net, but also I manage them from anywhere and on any device.
In these last days I had to find another template for my resume, because people suggest me that Europass CV style is not much appreciate in England. I hope that the following links and examples shall help you to realize a good CV of course using LaTeX.
