A little Python program to follow the 20-20-20 rule and prevent eye strain
I have recently started to complain some eye strain and headache, after remaining many hours in front of my laptop screen. Hence I discovered the 20-20-20 rule and wrote a script in Python to automatic show a black fullscreen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds in order to force me to look away at something that is 20 feet (about 6,10 meters) from me. Besides the program makes a sound when the screen turns on again.
A useful programming course in Python
Two weeks ago I finished an interesting course offered by Coursera and called "An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python". If you are looking for a funny and pleasant method to learn the basics of object programming and how to create simple interactive games, you have to take it. From the past: a traffic survey App for S60
Two years ago I had to make many traffic surveys along a big road in Rovigo city during the rush hours: in the early morning and in the late afternoon. I simply had had to count the numbers of cars and long vehicles in the two directions of travel and in preset positions and times (15 minutes per station). To do this I wrote a Python program for my phone: a Nokia N78 (equipped with Symbian 60v3). Here is the full story, code and how it worked.
