The beach locations seen during my adventure at Pisa
In these dog days I was thinking of the completely different weather of the last summer: cold and rainy. In that period I have been in Pisa for a six months internship at University of Sant’Anna and during the rarely weekends with nice weather, I usually used to visit the cities and places around this famous city. In this article and considering the season, I put my photographic memories about the beach locations that I visited there: San Vincenzo, Marina di Pietrasanta and Castiglioncello.
Probably if you have given a quick look to my previous blog posts, you know that I have told my little adventure in Eastbourne, without saying that at the end of 2013 I came back in Italy because I found two job opportunities in my Country. I consider my eight months experience in England very useful even though I never had found an interesting job in United Kingdom, only in the Restaurant Industry. So when I have had the chance to make a stimulating job, I took it up immediately. In that case it was an internship at Scuola Sant’Anna of Pisa for the management of low enthalpy geothermal resources.
Well, while being in Pisa, I had the Saturday and Sunday free and so I visited some famous locations in Tuscany but almost near at Pisa, because I could only use the public transport (my car was useless for that job so I preferred to leave at my home).
In this post I review the beaches I visited in the neighborhood of Pisa or easily reachable by train, as we are in summer! Before starting, I apologize to you for the quality of the screenshots, quality linked to my old phone (Nokia N78) and to my photographic skills.
It was the first beach I visited in Tuscany. The city is nice and it has a very long sand beach, unfortunately I have been there twice and I have always found the sea rough with the quality of water compromised. So my verdict is not positive.
San Vincenzo is a comune (municipality) in the province of Livorno in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) southwest of Florence and about 50 kilometers (31 mi) southeast of Livorno1 .

Marina di Pietrasanta
I have been there in September for the annual feast of il Fatto Quotidiano2 and not for the sea. In that occasion I was impressed by the Duomo Plaza of Pietrasanta and the quality of the museums open for free in the evening, while I was waiting for the return train. I suggest you to read its Wikipedia page.
In Marina di Pietrasanta I didn’t visit the beach but only the beautiful Versiliana park.
The Versiliana Park, which extends to Marina di Pietrasanta over 80 hectares from Fiumetto to the Viale Apua, all the way to the borders of the commune of Forte dei Marmi. This landscape offers 8 typologies of different environments for the flora and the fauna. Inside the Park there is also the villa called la Versiliana, famous for once hosting Gabriele d’Annunzio, and the famous festival la Versiliana held there during the summer3 .

I have discovered this location only in September looking the beautiful webcam images of the Bay of Quercetano transmitted by Bagni Italia4 and it was love at first sight. Thanks to the hot and sunny weather of October 2014, I have been there twice.
Castiglioncello is a frazione of the comune of Rosignano Marittimo, in the province of Livorno, Tuscany, Italy. It stands on a promontory reaching out into the Ligurian Sea, surrounded by pinewoods and hills that fall right down to the sea forming cliffs, little inlets, coves and sandy beaches5 .

In my opinion Castiglioncello is the best beach I have seen in Tuscany, but probably during the high and medium season it is very crowded, considering its rare beauty and also that the available surface of the beach is reduced.
