Looking for a good tutorial to start the study of EPANET 2.0, a public domain hydraulic analysis package for water supply networks, I was impressed for the high quality and origin of most of the documents that I found on Internet. Even more for the resources developed thanks to its toolkit. So I have collected the most interesting ones from my point of view.
Recently I have read that a local municipality has finally unblocked an old urban regeneration project in which I worked for many aspects. One of these was the pipe network analysis for that disused area. Fortunately I used PVnet and the job was simple. In this article I introduce this open source software and EPANET2, because its computational engine is used by the first one and it is more complete and powerful. Besides I show you that they can be installed in a Linux system using Wine.
Simple programm written in a QuickBasic language and compiled in FreeBASIC, which allows you to verify an horizontal grit chamber. Once you have put the geometric section and the incoming flow, it computes using elementary formulation the shorter length of this hydraulic device.
How to verify the selected horizontal grit chambers with the storm sewer previously designed? To do this I have used my old notes of Hydraulic Constructions, topic of this article, and the relative BASIC software that I will publish soon, after I have checked and cleaned the code.

Update of my software to design a storm sewer system, in this version it is possible a more realistic schematization of the system and is fully compatible with Linux. I have added a further degree of relationship, reducing to zero the subdivision and the joining part by part of the system. Besides it produces a backup copy of the input data, so it is possible to change and analyze again the sewer.

In this tutorial I will show you how to use my program, storm_sewer.exe, in order to design a system, fixing the speed line by line. The sewer data are taken by a duplicated lecture note, so you will able to compare my results with these. Besides I prove how a complex system could be subdivided for a better compatibility with my software.
I publish an open source code that calculates line by line the suitable diameter for a given sewer system, using the linear reservoir model. It can design according to three different variables: speed, shear stress or slope of the line. It gives a final report, useful for calculus relations or following elaborations.
For developing the theory of linear reservoir model, I will try to design a small system shaped by 2 pipelines. In this example I show some useful table and I introduce the input data and calculations, in order to facilitate the comprehension and the using of my forthcoming FreeBASIC program.
